Million Man LAN 3Write-Up
June 24-27
Louisville, KY – Almost 1,300 gamers turned out for LANWAR's third consecutive
Million Man LAN event this weekend.
Gamers of all skill levels attended to compete in official tournaments for
Unreal Tournament 2004,
Warcraft III, Counterstrike, and
Battlefield Vietnam. Interspersed among the official tournaments were
scads of unofficial tournaments for ping pong, rock-paper-scissors, and even a paper airplane contest!
NVIDIA was on site in full force, with its 2 demo kiosks showcasing the latest nForce and
GeForce technology, allowing gamers to try out the new
GeForce 6800 GT on hot new games
like
Far Cry and
Painkiller.
NVIDIA also attracted over 250 gamers to its nForce Overclocking Utility Workshop and Q&A session.
Product manager Micah Stroud showed attendees the latest features of the
nForce 3 250 Gb chipset, and
demonstrated NVIDIA's new Overclocking Utility, which allows gamers to overclock their systems in Windows,
without changing the BIOS. Immediately following the presentation, NVIDIA held a trivia and Q&A session giving
away
BFG graphics cards for prizes!
Throughout the LAN, NVIDIA gave away BFG graphics cards to attendees wearing the NVIDIA-BFG branded
shirts distributed to everyone at the start of the show. Some revelers were very pleasantly surprised when, after
wearing their NVIDIA-BFG T shirt for 3 straight days, they were randomly chosen as the winner of a new
BFG GeForce FX 5900 XT OC graphics card! NVIDIA
also gave away graphics cards to someone with the
oldest functioning graphics card (an NVIDIA Riva TNT), the winner of a paper airplane contest, and many other
promotions. In all, NVIDIA and BFG gave away 20 Graphics cards to lucky gamers at the event!
Be sure to check out NVIDIA and BFG at the next LANWAR
event
