OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS


Eligibility.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Open to legal U.S. and Canadian residents (excluding residents of New York, Florida, Rhode Island, Quebec, and any other jurisdiction where Contest would be prohibited by law) who are 17 years of age or older at time of entry, provided that any entrant between the ages of 17 and 18 get parental consent prior to entering the Contest. Employees of Ubisoft and their respective agents, affiliates, subsidiary and parent companies, sales representatives, marketing affiliates and partners, distributors, advertising and promotion agencies, and members of the immediate families or household of each are not eligible. Void where prohibited by law.

How to Enter.
Entries will only be accepted by mail. Only complete entries (with all the information as requested below) will be accepted as a submission. To enter by mail, send your map saved to electronic media and a letter on which you have hand printed or typed your first and last name, address, telephone number, date of birth and e-mail address to:

Please send entries as directed between Wednesday, September 1, 2004 and Friday, November 3, 2004 (the "Contest Period") and you will be automatically entered into the contest. No other methods of entry will be accepted. Only one entry per name and email address will be accepted. All entrants must have a valid email address at the time the Contest commences. Completed entries must be postmarked by Friday, November 3, 2004. Entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, illegible, incomplete, postage due, incorrect, late or misdirected entries, or other errors or problems of any kind whether mechanical, human or electronic. Entries are limited to individuals only; commercial enterprises and business entities are not eligible. Use of a false name or address will disqualify an entry. Sponsor is not responsible for technical, hardware or software malfunctions, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete, garbled or delayed electronic or other communications. Sponsor, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person who violates these rules. By entering, entrants accept and agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and Regulations.

Creative Limitations
  • The map must be original, created by the entrant specifically for this Contest. By participating, nominees certify their work is wholly original and has not been wholly or in part plagiarized from any other site and does not infringe upon the rights of any third party.
  • Entrants should avoid discussing an entry’s map ideas in an open forum. Accusations of plagiarism or theft prior to the completion of the judging will cause both accuser and accused to be disqualified.
  • Your design and contents must be wholly within the character of the copyrighted and established FAR CRY universe to date. Use of items that are deemed to fall outside or contravene some aspect of the FAR CRY universe or that are the property of another party such as a television show, movie, novel or any other source shall cause the entry to be disqualified.
  • Any map deemed to contain graphic or crude sexual material or offensive characterization of specific social groups shall, at the sole discretion of the judges, be disqualified.
  • The map must not contain any profanity or incitement or endorsement of illegal activities, must not violate the rights of any third party, and must not disparage Ubi Soft, its parent, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, or the FAR CRY game.
  • Any violation of these creative limitations may subject the entrant and the map to disqualification from the Contest. Decisions as to what is and is not a violation of these creative limitations is at the sole discretion of the judges. All decisions of the judges are binding and final.

Hints and Suggestions from the Staff
  • You don't get bonus points for turning it in early, so take your time and do the best you can do.
  • Be imaginative! Be original!
  • Stick with the FAR CRY theme.

Judging Criteria
Each map will be judged based on the following criteria (the summaries following each criteria are for description purposes only):

  • Originality: 25% - Is the entry creative, unique and inventive?
  • Design: 25% - Does the entry achieve its goals? Does the entry employ interesting design techniques? Does the content fit the design?
  • Balance: 25% - Is there multiplayer balance? Was the entry designed with the competitive community in mind?
  • Fun Factor: 25% - Is it fun?

Prizes, Winner Selection and Notification.
Grand Prize: One (1) NVIDIA sponsored AMD 64 PC with a 3400+ CPU (A.R.V.: $2,000.00)
First Prize: One (1) AMD Athlon 64 FX Processor (A.R.V.: $800.00), one (1) BFG NVIDIA GeForce 6800 (A.R.V.: $600.00), and one (1) Ubisoft game of choice from current inventory (A.R.V.: $50.00)
Second Prize: One (1) AMD Athlon 64 3400 (A.R.V.: $450.00), one (1) BFG NVIDIA GeForce 6800 (A.R.V.: $600.00), and one (1) Ubisoft game of choice from current inventory (A.R.V.: $50.00)
Third Prize: One (1) BFG NVIDIA 5700 (A.R.V.: $200.00) and one (1) Ubisoft game of choice from current inventory (A.R.V.: $50.00)

Prizes are not transferable. No substitution of Prizes for cash or other goods and services is permitted, except Sponsor reserves the right to provide a substitute Prize of approximately equal value. Winners must agree to abide by any restrictions in connection with the Prizes. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries in this Contest.

Maps must be received by November 3, 2004, and will be judged on its fun, originality, design, and balance. Ubisoft has sole discretion as to which entries get which prizes. Decisions as to what is and is not a violation of these rules is at the sole discretion of the Contest judges. All decisions by the judges are binding and final. Prizes may not be transferred, substituted, or redeemed for cash, except that Ubisoft may substitute cash or prizes of equal or greater value at its sole discretion. All federal, state, provincial, and/or local taxes/duties are the sole responsibilities of the winners. If an eligible person who is a minor has been selected to win the prize, the prize will be awarded in the name of the minor's parent or legal guardian, who will be required to sign all necessary documents. Awarding of prizes and Contest administration shall be the sole responsibility of Ubisoft.

Winner will be notified by an email sent to the email address specified on the entry form or by telephone. If Winner cannot be contacted at this email address, or if Winner is contacted and does not respond as directed within 7 days of notification, refuses the Prize or is ineligible to accept the Prize, the prize will not be awarded. Winner must provide a valid U.S. or Canadian shipping address to claim Prize. Winners will also be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, and, where lawful, a Liability and Publicity Release within 7 days of notification, or winner's prize may be forfeited and the prize may not be awarded, except where prohibited by law. By accepting the prize and/or executing the publicity release, each winner agrees that Sponsor may post winner's name on a list of winners, and may use winner's name, voice, likeness, biographical information, winning entry and statements attributed to winner (if true) for the purpose of advertising, trade, or promotion purposes without further notification or compensation to entrant

General Conditions.
By entering the Contest, entrants accept and agree to these Contest Rules and the decision of the judges, which shall be final. Return of any prize or notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and the prize will not be awarded.

Each entrant agrees and acknowledges that all right, title and interest in and to the map and any materials or information supplied by entrant to Ubisoft in relation to the Contest (collectively the "Materials"), including without limitation any and all intellectual property rights therein, are irrevocably assigned to Ubisoft and entrant retains no rights whatsoever therein; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT ENTRANT SHALL RETAIN THE RIGHT TO USE THE ARTWORK FOR ALL PERSONAL NON-COMMERCIAL PURPOSES. Ubisoft has the right to edit, adapt, modify, publish, promote, and otherwise use or not use the entry and the information contained therein in any way, in any media throughout the world, without any compensation to the entrant. Entrant agrees to do all things and execute all documentation necessary to effect the assignment and/or waiver herein described. The entrant acknowledges that: (I) Ubisoft has no obligation to use, publish or exploit any Materials, including the map submitted by the contest winners, and (II) UBISOFT OR ITS ASSIGNS MAY COMMERCIALLY EXPLOIT THE MATERIALS WITHOUT LIABILITY OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATION OF ANY KIND TO THE ENTRANTS.

Ubisoft Inc., and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, representatives, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies are not in any way responsible or liable for damages, loss or injury resulting from entrants' participation in this Contest or the acceptance, shipping and handling, loss or use of any Prizes awarded in this Contest. Winners assume sole liability for injuries, including personal injuries and/or damage to property, caused or claimed to be caused by participating in this Contest or the acceptance, shipping and handling, loss or use of any Prize awarded. Sponsor has the right to cancel, terminate, or modify this Contest if it cannot be completed as planned due to computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, technical failures, or other conditions beyond Sponsor's control. Sponsor is not responsible for any failure to contact entrants, whether due to technical or human error. By entering this Contest, each entrant consents to the posting of his or her name, city and state on http://www.nzone.com, http://www.ubisoft.com and affiliate websites if chosen as a winner.

By entering this Contest, each entrant (and if the entrant is a minor, entrant's parents and/or legal guardians) agrees to release and hold Sponsor, its parent, subsidiaries, and affiliates and their respective employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives and advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors, harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with the Contest, or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of any prize, including without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.

Winners List and Official Rules.
A winners list will be available at www.ubisoft.com starting on Friday, September 10, 2004 for two weeks. In addition, the “Winner’s list” and these Official Rules are also available by sending a stamped (Washington State residents may omit postage), self-addressed envelope marked "Far Cry: Mapping Paradise Contest" to Ubisoft Inc., 625 Third Street, Third Floor, San Francisco, CA 94107 RE: Request for Winners List or Request for Contest Rules.

Sponsor.
This Contest is sponsored exclusively by Ubisoft, Inc. NVIDIA Corp. is neither involved in nor responsible for the design or administration of this Contest.
